Google to provide IT infrastucture to Aravind Eye Hospital, India
Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai in the state of Tamilnadu, India is scaling new heights by inculcating Information Technology (IT) in eye care management in alliance with global IT major, Google. Larry Page, the Google co-founder and president (Products), examined the functional conditions of the hospital and was eloquent on how the hospital had evolved from a humble beginning to that of a world-class institution for eye care. Besides providing training for the in-house staff in using IT for the eye care system, the hospital is also to take assistance from Google foundation in extending its distance education programmes with a focus on extension of qualitative eye care to the rural areas using IT and work together on health projects benefiting the poor.
