Doctors aim for E-prescription in New Hampshire

New Hampshire is going to become the first state to allow doctors, clinics and hospitals for using electronic prescription system by 2008. Government’s John Lynch’s Citizens Health Initiative, group of doctors, is leading the way of e-prescriptions. When E-prescription will replace the handwritten prescription, an electronic order would be placed and the systems query pharmacy and health plan database to check for the drug allergies, interactions and prescriptions. Insurers are developing the incentive plans, named pay-for-performance for this programme. E-prescription programme does not require any IT investment of changes in electronic medical records.
