Robots will take care of stroke patients in Texas
Now robots will take care of patients. Two remote controlled robots are providing medical care of 24/7 access to critically ill neurology patients of ICU in a Texas Hospital. Both robots are employed at the Eddy Scurlock Stroke Center at Methodist Hospital in Houston. InToch Health made the robot and named ‘MURDOC’ (Mobile United Robot Doctor) and ‘ROHAS’ (Remote Operated Health Assessment System). Both robots are equipped with infrared sensors and two-way widescreen TV monitors. They allow physicians to review on medical chart information and allow patients to directly speak with nurses and doctors by using laptop and a joystick. According to Saleem Zaidi, director of Methodist’s neurological ICU, robotic technology will allow doctors to help stroke patients without wasting any time.
