SGPGI will play key role in telemedicine project in India

The School of Telemedicine, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) is going to play major role to provide telemedicine services in the National Network of Medical Colleges. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) along with Education and Research Network (ERNET) are making the technical design for the project of SGPGIMS. Firstly, the project will provide benefits of telemedicine to most of the UP medical colleges. In the first phase of the networking, the three premier medical institutions of UP, AIIMS, PGI Chandigarh and SGPGIMS Lucknow has already been completed. The SGPGIMS is also on the verge of becoming the first medical education institute in the country to introduce video element in its entrance exams. The IIT Kharagpur will train SGPGIMS IT professionals for the project. Under this project, the faculty will also provide live super-specially medical training to doctors through IT and satellite networking.
