Permission given for creation of Indian Institute of Public Health in Delhi (India)
The Delhi Cabinet on 24 eptember, 2007 gave its nod for establishment of an Indian Institute of Public Health, which would provide a sustainable response to the severe shortfall of public health professionals. It has also been decided that the Department of Health and Family Welfare would enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Public Health Foundation of India. The objective is to build up a large human resource base of public health professionals by establishing a network of world-class colleges and schools of public health. The Indian Institute of Public Health would conduct various academic courses on public health, impart training to in-service candidates, strengthen research and policy planning and also play an advisory role for the Delhi Government in areas of public health.
