UMC adds 3 hospitals to provide telemedicine services

University Medical Center has added three more hospitals to its telemedicine/teletrauma program. Now a total of five rural hospitals are getting high-tech assistance in their emergency rooms. Sierra Vista Regional Health Center, Benson Hospital and Carondelet Holy Cross Hospital in Nogales have joined Copper Queen Community Hospital in Bisbee and Southeast Arizona Medical Center in Douglas as part of the program. The rural hospitals can connect with UMC trauma surgeons through video conferencing, so that they can help them to stablize critical patients who do not have time to be transferred to Tucson.
