Australia to Spend $632m to Cut Hospital Waiting Times
The Australian Government will spend A$500m ($632m) to cut waiting times for hospital emergency services to a maximum of four hours. The government also will provide A$150m ($139m) of additional funding from July to states and territories to cover the cost of moving toward the target. The rest will be paid over a four-year period. The announcement is conditional on support from state and territory leaders for the plan to take control of Australia’s hospital system with the federal government providing 60% of funding.
