New Tool Developed to Diagnose Gastrointestinal Disorders
A clinical tool has been developed to allow physicians a practical, efficient and cost-effective aid to diagnose functional gastrointestinal disorders. The tool, developed by Rome Foundation, provides an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis of functional gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome and functional dyspepsia. The Algorithms for Common Gastrointestinal Symptoms tool provides diagnostic pathways for common symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation. The diagnostic algorithms are based on the consensus of international experts using standard methods and yes-no decision trees.
