Officials Strive To Ease Registration Process for EHR Incentive Payments
CMS aims to expand its Medicare provider enrollment system to ease the registration process for physicians looking to qualify for health IT incentive payments. Under the 2009 federal economic stimulus package, healthcare providers who demonstrate “meaningful use” of electronic health records can qualify for incentive payments through Medicaid and Medicare. The agency awarded a USD 1.6 million contract to CGI Federal to develop additional functions for the Provider Enrollment Chain Ownership System, which manages enrollment for Medicare providers and suppliers.
