VA Creates Online Tools To uate Healthcare and Provide Transparency
The Department of Veterans Affairs launched two online dashboards in an effort to offer transparency of its internal clinical performance, Modern Healthcare reports. The tools are available on the VA Hospital Compare website and are accessible to the general public. LinKS VA’s Linking Information Knowledge and Systems, or LinKS, provides outcome measures data on areas such as acute, intensive and outpatient care. VA considered expanding its involvement in the federal Hospital Compare website instead of constructing its own site, according to William Duncan, associate deputy undersecretary for health quality and safety. Duncan said VA decided against the Hospital Compare site because it uses Medicare data and because Hospital Compare’s data are not updated as frequently as VA data.
