US market for PACS and RIS will grow to $3 billion
Millennium Research Group (MRG), the global authority on medical technology market intelligence, finds that the US market for picture archive communication systems (PACS) and radiology information systems (RIS) will grow to $3 billion by 2010. According to the new report entitled US Markets for PACS and RIS 2006, the market will experience strong growth over the forecast period, driven by the increased acceptance of PACS outside of radiology, physician demand for softcopy images, the adoption of electronic medical records, and the need for hospitals to treat a greater number of patients. The report also finds that acquisitions dramatically changed the competitive landscape in 2005.
