NTR University Lands in Fresh Row
Vice-chancellor of NTR University of Health Sciences I V Rao has issued essentiality certificates to two private dental colleges.
Rumours have it that the managements of these two colleges were given a free run by the VC himself without taking the senior officials of the department into confidence.
Essentiality certificate for a health university is mandatory for any colleges in medical stream for applying for the MCI recognition. The varsity inspection team is believed to have found acute shortage of faculty at Sai Dental college and turned down its plea for issuance of essentiality certificate on the spot. Subsequently, the vice-chancellor issued them the required certificates without taking the EC’s refusal into consideration. The vice-chancellor reportedly issued similar certificate to another private dental college from West Godavari district. In an attempt to hush up the matter, VC reportedly removed the subject of essentiality certificates from the agenda of utive council held last week.
On learning about the VC’s move, senior officials on the board including principal secretary have taken the vice-chancellor to the task and decided to conduct a probe into the issue.
