Shalby Buys Krishna Hospital For Rs 75 Crore
Krishna Hospital, the first corporate hospital of Ahmedabad, which introduced the concept of luxury ambience along with advance medical care in Ahmedabad, has been sold. Shalby Hospital has acquired majority stake in hospital to become the biggest corporate hospital in Ahmedabad with 450 beds.
Shalby Ltd, promoted by knee-replacement surgeon Dr Vikram Shah, has acquired 86% stake in Yogeshwar Healthcare Ltd, which runs Krishna Hospital in Ghuma, on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. While Dr Shah refused to comment on the size of the deal, market sources say his company shelled out about Rs 75-80 crore for the acquisition.
“The amalgamation will be formally completed through the court. We have bought Krishna Hospital and will expand it into a 250-bed multi-specialty hospital where people from all over India and globe will be treated under one roof for multiple illnesses,” said Dr Shah.
Shalby Hospital currently has 200 beds while Krishna Hospital has 140 beds. Shalby will add 110 more beds as part of a renovation. “After acquiring Krishna, Shalby will become the biggest private corporate hospital in Ahmedabad,” said Dr Shah, who worked with Krishna from 2002 to 2007.
