Procure logistics to ensure continuous supply of H1N1 medicines: Delhi Govt to hosp
In the wake of an unprecedented increase in swine flu cases in recent days, Delhi’s health department has directed all city hospitals to prepare for the worst. Delhi has recorded a total of 617 swine flu cases so far.
The Health department has told city hospitals to procure all logistics needed to ensure continuous supply of medicine, vaccine and kits.
According to the Government, no deaths have been reported in the city so far.
After holding a state-level review meeting on infuenza A (H1N1) to take stock of the situation, the Delhi government said that all government hospitals in the city are equipped with necessary logistics to tackle the disease. The drug Oseltamivir along with personal protective equipments (PPE kits) and N95 masks are also available, it said.
Recent guidelines from the Union Health Ministry on case diagnosis, management, vaccination, isolation criteria, risk categorization and preventive measures have been circulated among all hospitals and health facilities.
“Collection and compilation of confirmed swine flu cases from various reporting units and labs with complete line listing on daily basis is being done at the state level.
“Compiled report is shared with districts for timely surveillance activities and preventive measures,” an official said.
The death toll due to swine flu in the country has soared to 169 this year while 4,571 people have tested positive for the virus, with Rajasthan accounting for over 40 per cent of the cases.
