Rajasthan fares among best States for incremental performance on health parameters
Rajasthan has emerged one of the best performing states which witnessed substantial progress on different healthcare parameters in last some years, as per recently released second health index report by the government think tank Niti Aayog.
The report which took into account the period 2015-16 (base year) to 2017-18 (reference year), placed Rajasthan at second position among larger states in terms of incremental performances in delivery of healthcare services. Haryana was at the top while Jharkhand ranked at third position in this category.

As per the health index which is a composite measure of States and Union Territories based on 23 health indicators with major weightage to the outcomes, Kerala was top performing State in overall healthcare delivery of services followed by Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Uttar Pradesh, Bihar were ranked worst performing State.

“In Bihar, the deterioration between, Base Year of 2015-16 and Reference Year of 2017-18 was primarily due to the performance related to total fertility rate, low birth weight, Sex Ratio at Birth, Tuberculosis treatment success rate, quality accreditation of public health facilities, and time-taken for National Health Mission fund transfer,” said the report.

In February 2018, the first round of the health index was released, which measured the annual and incremental performances of States and UTs for the period 2014-15(base year) to 2015-16 (reference year).
With healthcare initiatives like Bhamashah Swasthaya Bima Yojana (BSBY) and daughters of India campaign, Rajasthan is aiming to take healthcare to the last-mile benefitting people of every strata of the society.
The State Government has now decided to implement Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in integration with BSBY which has benefitted 97 lakh families till date.
