Safdarjung doctors on strike to protest attack on colleagues

Various healthcare services at Safdarjung Hospital Delhi have been affected after resident doctors went to an indefinite strike on Thursday evening.

The doctors were protesting after relatives of a patient thrashed two resident doctors on duty. The 40-year-old patient who was suffering from chronic liver disease, hypertension, and other serious complications, died during the course of the treatment, as per an ANI report.

Doctors have refused to attend to emergency services and demanded security at the workplace, report said.

A letter by the doctors to the hospital administration said, “Two people brutally attacked the two residents on duty. RDA calls for an indefinite strike, including the emergency services, with effect from August 29.”

“A case of assault has been registered. We have detained two men against whom we have received allegations,” said DCP Devender Arya.
