MGM Hospital in MP gets first sliver certificate under PMJAY
The Quality Council of India (QCI) has bestowed Mohanlal Gupta Memorial (MGM) Hospital and Research Centre in Madhya Pradesh with silver category certificate for quality healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
The hospital is the first such healthcare provider which has been awarded under the category by QCI. The development comes days after when three hospitals were awarded ‘Gold certificate’ for their performance on quality criteria.
MGM hospital is one of the empanelled healthcare institutions among 18,097 hospitals on board with AB-PMJAY.
Dr J L Meena, General Manager, Hospital Networking and Quality Assurance at AB-PMJAY, was quoted as saying by ANI, “We are happy to announce that Mohanlal Gupta Memorial (MGM) Hospital and Research Centre has received silver certificate for maintaining quality in healthcare services. It is the first AB-PMJAY Silver Quality certificate issued to MGM hospital till date.”
The Government provides healthcare coverage of worth Rs 5 lakh/family to poor and vulnerable families under the AB-PMJAY, touted as the world’s biggest healthcare scheme. Approximately 50 crore people are supposed to get benefit out of the scheme which aims to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure.
National Health Authority (NHA), which is the implementing body of the initiative, has framed comprehensive guidelines for empanelled hospitals to apply for the quality certificate in three categories- Gold, Silver and Bronze.
“Hospitals which does not hold any accreditation or certification from any recognised body like (NQAS, NABH and JCI) can also apply for bronze certification,” said Dr Meena.
