Soon, Medanta to set up 400-bed hospital in Varanasi

The healthcare delivery system in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi will get a boost soon as Medanta group is planning to open a 400-bed hospital in the city soon. On Sunday Naresh Trehan, Chairman, Medanta Group paid a visit to the city and announced last leg of preparations.

Speaking on this occasion, he said India is on the verge of becoming a disease capital with people are facing lots of health issues prominently being non-communicable diseases like cancer and cardiovascular diseases. In this light, there is an onus on the government and private stakeholders to cater people accessible and affordable care.


Reports say that for setting up a hospital which will be established probably on PPP mode either with the State Government or some private partner, suitable land is being looked for. Other infrastructural issues are also being worked out. The hospital would have facilities pertaining to cancer, heart diseases, and neuro issues.


Last year, while speaking at the ground breaking ceremony in Lucknow, Trehan had announced about the project. He had said that the group will establish hospital in Lucknow, Noida, Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
