Digital Technologies to improve health
In the context of this global strategy, digital health is under stood to mean the field of knowledge and practice associated with the development and use of digital technologies to improve health says Aditi Oberoi, Product Mgr-Beneficiary Management, Identity Management & National Portability, NHA.
It has changed magnanimously and it has gone multi fold into different levels. If I take NHA as an example it’s not that our country did not invest in healthcare or digitization of healthcare prior to Covid happened we already had schemes like Ayushman Bharat running from last two years before Covid happened but yes definitely platforms for telemedicine came into, then integration with the already existing healthcare platforms that were already available in the public domain came into utilization with COVID-19 so what happened during Covid is there were not just efforts made around the digital transformation during Covid but efforts were also made around non digital transformation because there are certain challenges wherein our country which has multiple different terrain, different reaches, and different sort of infrastructure and governing agencies are different in those sort of scenario only digitization may not solve your problem but also making sure that non digital solutions are also very complimented so we saw few examples of how that is being done like there are some initiate like entrepreneur venture Khushi Baby which is based out of Rajasthan and they make sure that collect a pregnant lady’s and her child immunization, healthcare record in a chip or pen drive and that is done in online manner and when that lady goes to her healthcare provider the chip is read and the entire data is made electronic.
I think it is a combination of digital as well as non-digital efforts that came into being after Covid 19 but if you see in terms of how the government has been functioning it was always a key criteria to make sure that healthcare works in a digitised manner.
