Andhra Pradesh: CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to Lay Foundation for 14 New Medical Colleges
In a bid to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the state, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to lay the foundation for 14 new medical colleges in the southern state on Monday.
Earlier, the government had proposed to set up 16 new medical colleges in addition to the existing 11 to boost the hospital infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.
The construction activities for Paderu and Pulivendula institutions have started. After setting up these new colleges, the medical seat count is expected to rise increase remarkably. It is also expected that more underprivileged pupils can enrol. These seats will be filled by convenor quota for 70% and payment quota for 30%.

The 16 new medical colleges will come up at Vizianagaram, Paderu, Anakapalli, Rajahmundry, Anakapalli, Amalapuram, Palakollu, Machilipatnam, Eluru, Piduguralla, Madanapalli, Pulivendula, Penukonda, Bapatla, Markapuram, Adoni, and Nandyal.
As of now, the Andhra Pradesh government has ordered for setting up of multi-speciality hospitals in the tribal areas of Parvathipuram, Rampachodavaram, Seethampeta, Buttayigudem, and Dornala, where the government has procured 885 acres of lands for medical colleges as well as multi-speciality hospitals.
