Bharat Biotech Supplies Covaxin Directly to 14 Worst-hit States
Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has reportedly said that it has supplied the vaccine to 14 worst-hit states, including Maharashtra, Delhi, and West Bengal. Most states have reportedly said that they are experiencing a shortage of vaccines doses as well as realising high demand.
These states have said that the supply of vaccines from the union government has been low of late. Thereafter, the union government has asked states for ordering Covid-19 vaccines directly from the vaccine producers.
The Covid-19 vaccine manufacturers earlier had said it might take a while for delivering vaccines directly to states. Now, Hyderabad’s Bharat Biotech has reportedly confirmed that the company will be able to supply Covaxin doses directly to not less than 14 states.
Meanwhile, the union government has so far provided nearly 18 crore vaccine doses to states/UTs free of cost. Over 1 crore Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states/UTs to be administered. Furthermore, more than 9 lakh vaccine doses will be received in addition by the states/UTs within the next 3 days, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said.
