Covid-19 Updates: India Logs 25,166 New Cases, Lowest in 5 Months
India registered 25,166 fresh cases of the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, lowest in 154 days. Its active cases constitute 1.15 % of the total cases, its lowest since March 2020; and active caseload stands at 3,69,846, its lowest in 146 days, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said.
According to MoHFW, the weekly positivity rate is 1.98 %, less than 3% for the last 53 days. The daily positivity rate is 1.61%, less than 3% for the last 22 days. India witnessed 3,14,48,754 recoveries across the country so far as 36,830 people recovered during the past 24 hours; the recovery rate currently is 97.45%, it added.

The country achieved the highest ever vaccination achieved in a single day as it administered more than 88.13 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours. It inoculated 55.47 crores vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. The new phase of universalisation of the Covid-19 vaccination commenced on 21 June 2021. “The union government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of the Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country,” the health ministry said, adding that the testing capacity is “substantially” ramped up across the country with conducting 49.66 crores tests until now.
