14,306 fresh Covid cases reported in India
14,306 fresh Covid cases and 443 related fatalities were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, as per the data shared by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Of the total cases and fatalities, Kerala was the top contributor accounting for 8,538 infections and 71 deaths. Active caseload in the country is at 167,695, the lowest in 239 days, accounting for less than 1 per cent of total infections.
The ministry data also indicates that the recovery rate in the country has risen to 98.18 per cent and is the highest since the start of the pandemic. The weekly positivity rate stood at 1.24 per cent and the daily positivity rate at 1.43 per cent. The country had reached the milestone of administering 1 billion covid vaccine doses on October 22.
