Healthtech company Eka Care raises $15 Mn; plans to educate people on keeping health profiles

Healthtech company Eka Care which uses technology to manage health profiles, has recently raised $15 Mn in Series A funding.

The round was led by Hummingbird Ventures along with a number of other investors, including 3one4 Capital, Mirae Assets, Verlinvest, Aditya Birla Ventures, Binny Bansal, and Rohit MA.

The newly raised funds will be used by the company for recruiting employees, product development, creating awareness, and educating consumers regarding the benefits of keeping a health profile. The company also aims to assist doctors in moving to digital practices.

The Eka Care app allows users to create their own health profiles by providing medical records. Users can keep a variety of medical documents on the app, including prescriptions, lab and scan results, reports on children’s vaccinations and developmental milestones, heart rate patterns, blood sugar readings, and much more. All the records and information gets linked with the users’ Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) account.

The healthcare app provides doctors with an advanced management platform that enables them to interact with their patients online, create and maintain a digital diary, write digital prescriptions, and also increase their online presence.

The app has proven time efficient for doctors along with the opportunity to earn more money from their practice. The Eka Care app is available on Android and iOS.

Expressing his views, Founder and CEO of Eka Care, Vikalp Sahni said, “Our vision is to build a technology backbone to create and manage a health profile for every Indian. The trust of marquee investors in our vision has elevated our confidence. We are super excited to continue reforming the way healthcare is delivered in India by building tools for healthcare providers and users.”

“Our clinic management tool is compliant with both NMC and NDHM guidelines, it helps reduce time in writing prescriptions, compliance, improving the online presence and overall income of the doctors. Our doctors are leading the digitization wave in the country, and I invite every doctor in the country to join this mission,” said Deepak Tuli, Co-founder & COO, Eka Care.

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has recognised Eka Care as the first private platform to facilitate the creation of the ABHA card. It is an ABDM-approved PHR app where users can receive their digital medical records from ABDM-affiliated health service providers.

Sharing his views, Akshay Mehra, India Lead, Hummingbird Ventures said, “The first act in building a Digital India was driven by the creation of a universal system for digital identity and a scalable payment layer, which is now well-known globally as UPI. The overall objective was to democratize digital and financial services for every Indian with an internet connection. The next act is to proliferate the use of digital health services in India with the government’s UHI initiative. Our deep conviction in Eka Care is driven by the growing need for a horizontal platform built on the back of UHI, the product interoperability, and the strength of the founders having previously scaled businesses across India. We are privileged to be a part of the journey, and look forward to witnessing Eka becoming the health profile for every Indian.”

“I believe that India is at the cusp of a health care revolution. With its innovative and integrated platform, a great team, and forward-looking vision, Eka Care is in a strong position to create a big impact. I am thrilled to partner with Eka Care in its growth,” Binny Bansal, Co-founder of Flipkart remarked.

The healthtech startup was founded by Vikalp Sahni and Deepak Tuli in December 2020. Later, Abhishek Begerhotta joined them as an advisor. Eka Care assists Indians in developing their health profiles in order to improve their health outcomes and save healthcare costs. The company has created an advanced digital clinic management platform for doctors.

Eka Care claims to have 3 Cr health records, 16 Lakh ABHAs, and over 5000 doctors are using its advanced EMR solutions.
