Centre sends a high-level team to Mumbai to assess and control measles outbreak
To assess the increase in measles cases in Mumbai, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to send a high-level multidisciplinary team there. The team will support the State Health Authorities in putting necessary control and containment measures in place as well as aid in establishing public health measures.

The three-person Central team is made up of professionals from the Regional Office for Health and Family Welfare in Pune, Maharashtra, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, and Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), New Delhi. The team is headed by Dr. Anubhav Srivastava, Deputy Director, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), NCDC.

The team will also go on field investigations to learn more about the outbreak and help state health departments with public health protocols, management guidelines, and strategies to deal with the growing number of measles cases being reported in Mumbai.
