11 Centers of Excellence receive financial support from institutions under the CSR scheme
The Department of Health and Family Welfare has created a digital portal for crowdfunding and voluntary donations for patients with rare diseases, according to the directive of the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021. The Digital Portal may be accessed at https://rarediseases.nhp.gov.in/. The Department of Revenue has received a letter from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare requesting the registration of a crowdfunding portal for rare diseases under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
According to the NPRD, 2021’s provisions, financial help for the care of 120 individuals with rare diseases has been made available. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with them, Centers of Excellence (CoEs) have the option of receiving financial support from other organisations, pharmaceutical companies, and the corporate sector as part of a CSR programme. 11 CoEs have so far been found
