During the Keynote Address at the 2nd day, Dr. Ismaeel Almakrami, Health Informatics Consultant & Hospital Director, Ministry of Health, Saudi Arabia, said that, “India is a highly developed country in terms of technology and medical advancements. I extend a warm invitation to healthcare professionals and investors to explore investment and collaborative opportunities in Saudi Arabia. The healthcare industry has experienced a significant transformation due to digital disruption. This transformation benefits both healthcare providers and patients, making access to healthcare services easier and more convenient. It is a revolutionary change that has the potential to improve healthcare for people residing in rural areas. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aims to ensure that every individual has an electronic health record.”
Dr Akhilesh Gupta, Sr. Advisor, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, said, “In recent years, healthcare has emerged as a top priority not only for governments but also for citizens. Currently, the healthcare industry is confronted with two significant and closely interrelated challenges: access to healthcare and its affordability. This creates a dilemma: what is accessible may not be affordable, and what is affordable may not be accessible. As a result, there is a pressing need for innovation to bridge the gap between these two aspects.”
N Nawin Sona, Secretary II, Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra, in his keynote address stated that, “Nature itself is the greatest innovator, and Covid stands as a prime illustration, sparking a profound digital revolution across all sectors of the economy to confront its impact. The healthcare sector, particularly within the realm of government healthcare, is brimming with vast opportunities fueled by innovation.”
Dr Karthik Adapa, Special Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Punjab, stated that, “In Punjab, we have utilised technology like the breast thermography system, which eliminates the necessity for mammograms,a tool for screening breast cancer. Mammograms, besides being costly, are both dehumanising and reliant on Western methods. They demand trained technicians, radiation exposure, and offer a shameful user experience. By implementing breast thermography, we successfully screened over 10,000 women in the past six months in Punjab, completely transforming the process and making it more humane and simplifying.”
Dr Shafqat Khan, Additional Mission Director, Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission and Nodal, stated, “The challenge lies not only in creating healthcare infrastructure but also in seamlessly integrating and organising it to ensure that citizens can easily access and avail medical services. In J&K, by focusing on this aspect, we have significantly reduced the infant mortality rate from 33 to 16 within just 5 years. In India, the tertiary healthcare system is overwhelmed, highlighting the need to strengthen our primary and district healthcare infrastructure and services.”
The event also celebrated excellence through various award categories, including Healthcare Delivery Organizations, Diagnostics & Preventive Healthcare Organizations, Individual Awards, Digital Health Organizations, Special Awards for Government and Non-Profit Organizations, among others.
The 11th Elets Healthcare Innovation Summit & Awards provided an exceptional opportunity to connect with top CEOs, CIOs, CXOs, healthcare experts, government dignitaries, and other thought leaders in the industry. All stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem were invited to join this platform and actively contribute to shaping the future of digital healthcare in India.
