President Droupadi Murmu to launch Ayushman Bhava campaign for optimum health scheme delivery on September 13
In Short
Effective April 1, the Ministry of Health mandates linking Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiary IDs with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs within 30 days. This integration aims to establish a digital health identification system for CGHS beneficiaries and facilitate the storage of their digital health records, enhancing the accessibility of hospital options for patients. CGHS, serving over 41 lakh beneficiaries in 75 cities, provides comprehensive healthcare to Central Government employees and pensioners, while Ayushman Bharat offers Rs. 5 lakhs coverage per family annually for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
In a significant move towards improving healthcare accessibility and awareness, President Droupadi Murmu is set to inaugurate the “Ayushman Bhava” campaign on September 13. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced this initiative on Monday, stating that it aims to ensure the optimal delivery of health schemes to every intended beneficiary, even those in remote areas.
The campaign will be formally introduced during the ‘Seva Pakhwada,’ which coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17. This two-week event, ending on October 2, will witness a series of activities aimed at enhancing healthcare access and awareness across the country.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the importance of saturating health services in every village to achieve the overarching goal of “health for all,” in line with the vision of ‘Antyodaya.’

The “Ayushman Bhava” campaign comprises several key components, including “Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0,” which focuses on creating and distributing Ayushman cards to all remaining eligible beneficiaries. Additionally, “Ayushman Mela” will organize weekly health melas at the level of AB-HWCs (Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres) and Community Health Centres (CHCs). The “Ayushman Sabha” will be conducted at the village/ward level to raise awareness about various healthcare schemes and services.
Through the successful implementation of these initiatives, the campaign aims to transform gram/nagar panchayats into ‘Ayushman Gram Panchayats’ or ‘Ayushman Wards,’ achieving saturation of selected health indicators.

During this programme, camps will be established to distribute Ayushman Bharat cards, benefitting approximately 60,000 individuals. Moreover, an online organ donation pledge registry will be launched during the ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ to facilitate registrations from willing citizens across the country. A 24×7 toll-free helpline number, 1800114770, will be operational to provide guidance on the pledging process and information regarding organ donation.

As part of the ‘Seva Pakhwada,’ all blood banks will host at least one blood donation camp to ensure a steady supply of blood and its components in the future. Cleanliness drives at all public health facilities, spanning primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, will be conducted with the support of gram panchayat members and other stakeholders.
