Telemedicine making medicare reach the unreached
In a bid to make medicare affordable to rural masses, the Union Information Technology and Health Ministries have initiated moves to formulate standards for telemedicine, Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran said while inaugurating the 24-hour Heartline Telemedical Services at Chennai. Information Technology is making medical services to reach the unreached. S. Thanikachalam, former Vice-Chancellor, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute; R. Chandrasekaran, utive Vice-President and Managing Director, Cognizant; Raghavendra Rao, chairman Managing Director, Orchid Pharmaceuticals; and Moshe Peleg, Chairman, Heartline Telemedical Services, spoke on that occasion. Director Heartline Telemedical Services J.S. Rajkumar explained the salient features of the Lifesave 24/7 healthcare services. Selva Annamalai, Managing Director of Heartline Temedical Services, said the advantage of the technology was that it would assist health check-ups and mass screening programmes among rural communities.
