Development funds for Government Hospitals

Adequate funds will be released for all government hospitals in city (Visakhapatnam) for development. King George Hospital (KGH) alone would get Rs 75 crore under the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme, said State Health Minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas.


The hospitals included KGH, Government Hospital for Mental Care (GHMC), Victoria Hospital, Chest Hospital and Rani Chandamani Devi (RCD) Hospital.


The minister said it has been found that though KGH has adequate doctors, the strength of nursing staff is low and the government would soon appoint nurses. The minister also said Rs 91 lakh has been released for development of GHMC and Rs 49 lakh for the Regional Eye Hospital. The state has also sanctioned Rs 30 crore to all damaged hospital as part of Cyclone Hudhud relief funds. The government is now examining the possibility of setting up a mother and child care unit at RCD Hospital at a cost of Rs 20 crore. The bed strength of RCD Hospital will also be increased to 200.
