Now Himachal doctors up in arms against assault on female doctor

After the culmination of West Bengal strike, now Government doctors across Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district are up in the arms over an attack on female doctor.

The doctors across Mandi district on Tuesday observed pen down’ strike for two hours, demanding arrest of culprit who allegedly assaulted a female doctor posted in Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur’s home constituency.


The doctors have also warned stating that they would go for an indefinite strike from Wednesday if action was not taken against the guilty who allegedly assaulted woman doctor in an inebriated state at a primary health centre in Seraj.

Demanding the arrest of accused, doctor’s association President Jatinder Roorkee was quoted as saying by IANS, “Otherwise we will be forced to go on indefinite strike from Wednesday. However, the emergency services will not be hampered,” he added.


Taking the cognisance of the matter, the government has constituted a Special Investigating Team to probe the incident.


As per the report, health services were affected across the district due to strike by the doctors.

Directing his department not to post a woman doctor alone in remote public prime health centres during the night, the State Health Minister Vipin Parmar, has sought a report on the incident.
