More than 30 vaccines in different stages of development: Scientists to PM
More than 30 vaccines against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) are in different stages of development, scientists have informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a recently held meeting with the task force, PM was informed that out of 30 vaccines, a few are going to trial soon.
The Prime Minister was holding meet to review India’s progress to develop a vaccine, drug discovery, diagnosis and testing, which are crucial to combat Coronavirus menace.
“First, the repurposing of existing drugs. At least four drugs are undergoing synthesis and examination in this category,” a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office was quoted as saying by a HT report.
“Secondly, the development of new candidate drugs and molecules are being driven by linking high performance computational approached with laboratory verification. Thirdly, plant extracts and products are being examined for general anti-viral properties,” it added.
