Maharashtra: Govt doctors on bond, contract to get Rs 15,000 hike in monthly remuneration

The Maharashtra government has decided to hike monthly remuneration of those doctors who are on service bond as well as contract. Now onwards they will be getting 15,000 increment in their monthly remuneration.

As per a statement issued from the chief minister’s office as quoted by TOI report, MBBS doctors on bond who work in tribal belts will now get Rs 75,000 while specialists on bond in tribal belts will get Rs 85,000. Till date, for serving in tribal belt MBBS doctors on bond was getting Rs 60,000 while specialists were getting Rs 70,000.


The decision comes as COVID-19 has wreaked havoc in the state and healthcare workers are to serve patients in best of their capacity. As per the rule of the State government, MBBS, MS, and MD doctors who graduate from government and municipal medical colleges have to serve a mandatory term in government hospitals. These are called doctors on bond.


CM Uddhav Thackeray said the hike will boost morale of fron tline healthcare workers. In other parts of the state, MBBS doctors will get Rs 70,000 (Rs 55,000) and specialists Rs 80,000 (Rs 65,000), the report said.
