Covid-19: Delhi IIT graduates develop innovative device for cops
IIT graduates have developed an innovative device to help Delhi cops in their fight against Corona Pandemic.
The device named ‘corona cleaner’ uses UV radiation to clan items like documents, office stationary, and even weapons used by the cops on the frontlines of Covid-19, which has infected millions of people world-wide.

The device was presented to Delhi Police on Thursday, a TOI report said.

It will be installed at the entrance of the Delhi Police headquarters. If found effective, it will be installed at other police stations as well, said the report.

“We started developing the device while working with another project with DRDO. On analysing the Chinese products in the market, we found that they had no UV emitting devices fitted in them, rather they had LED lamps with a violet hue that did not serve any purpose,” said Shubham Rathore, one of the developers said.

“We got the device tested by the DRDO, who gave us a certification that the UV rays generated by our device can kill 99.99% of the virus,” said Rathore. Each unit costs around Rs 7,000.
