Covid-19 Vaccination: 3 States, 3 UTs Achieve 100% 1st Dose

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has said that three states and three union territories (UT) have administered the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to 100% of their eligible people that come in the age group of 18 years and above.

In a tweet, the office of the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated, “Congratulations to these States & UTs for administering the first #COVID19 vaccine dose to 100% of the adult population.”

Himachal Pradesh was the first in India to achieve this feat as it has administered over 5.57 million such doses so far, according to the union health ministry. Chief Minister Jairam Thakur had stated that all beneficiaries would be fully inoculated by 30 November. Goa has reportedly jabbed over 1.18 million people at least once. The northeastern state of Sikkim has achieved this distinction by administering over 5,10,000 doses.

The UTs of Ladakh and Lakshadweep have administered 100% beneficiaries with at least first dose; they have provided 1,97,000 and 53,499 doses respectively. Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu have administered the first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine to over 6,26,000 beneficiaries.

Until now, six Covid-19 vaccines have received Emergency Use Authorisation or EUA from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). Of these, two vaccines Covaxin and ZyCoV-D indigenously developed.
