‘Eyes open to Thrombosis’ is the theme for World Thrombosis Day 2021

World Thrombosis day is celebrated on 13th October to raise awareness about the medical condition, decrease the number of deaths and disabilities caused by the condition. Recently highlighted even more as one of the side effects of Covid-19, Thrombosis is a disease that may cause blood to clot in the veins of legs, arms and groin, causing life-threatening medical conditions, including heart attack, thromboembolic stroke and venous thromboembolism (VTE). Some people have also reportedly developed the condition post receiving Covid-19 vaccine.

Experts have observed that lack of information about the disease may cause delayed diagnosis and treatment often creating complications in the circulatory system. Rising number of mortalities across the globe have resulted in growing awareness about this disease as also justified with the theme this year, ‘Eyes open to Thrombosis’.
