11,451 new coronavirus infections logged in India
India recorded 11,451 new coronavirus infections taking the total COVID-19 cases to 3,43,66,987, while the active cases declined to 1,42,826 according to the Union Health Ministry data. 266 fresh fatalities were reported with the death toll climbing up to 4,61,057.
With Covaxin receiving WHO approval, the Ministry of External Affairs has reached out to a number of countries to secure approval for the vaccine. Demand is also being made across quarters for administering the booster shots of Covid-19 vaccine to the frontline workers and vulnerable high risk groups with reports doing rounds of states and private players having stockpiles of soon to expire vaccine doses.
