Technology can deliver cheaper healthcare, says Intel chief

Intel chief Craig Barrett has drawn his attention to an Indian organisation to bring home the point of technology, making it possible to deliver affordable healthcare. In his keynote address at the Intel Developer Forum’s Mr Barrett explained how technology is being used as a tool to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges related to health care, education, economic development and the environment. According to Barrett, the US, which spends USD 2 trillion on healthcare, cannot afford to spend anymore. At the same time baby boomers are getting old and chronic illness is on the rise. The Intel chief said it was technology, which had the potential to transform healthcare in mature and developing economies. The example used by him
