With the rapid proliferation of hundreds of health information websites, e-health publications and commencement of use of electronic health records, we in India, are now in an era of information dissemination.
The department of information technology (DIT) has initiated the process of assigning a unique identification (UID) to the Indian citizen. The UID will provide a common medium for identifying all citizens by government agencies and enhancing the efficiency and transparency in service delivery.
